The end of 2025 marks a turning point for the South American tissue market and for Gambini. Wet embossing officially arrives in Brazil, thanks to the installation of the very first AirMill in the country, made into a Damapel converting line. This milestone marks the progress of a single company and an entire industry.

Gambini Brasil was founded in the spring of 2024 in Joinville, Santa Catarina, and immediately established itself as a strategic presence, capable of tearing down the market barriers. Until then, the sector had relied only on one local manufacturer: access to Gambini technologies now represents a real alternative and a step forward in the introduction and deployment of innovative and flexible solutions suited to the Latin American market.

Today, this vision becomes reality with the installation of a wet embosser, the first, at Damapel, a historic Brazilian company that has been producing toilet paper, handkerchiefs, kitchen towels and napkins since 1962.

With the adoption of AirMill, Damapel is one step ahead of other manufacturers in the area, leveraging all the advantages of wet embossing:

  • Increased softness and bulk, for a more pleasant feel;
  • Improved absorbency and functional performance, especially in kitchen towels;
  • The ability to use lighter (and therefore more sustainable) base papers in converting, thus reducing virgin fiber consumption;
  • Greater production flexibility, thanks to the quick adjustments that can be made to the finished products’ characteristics.

The arrival of the AirMill in Brazil is an important step for the industry. The technology offers manufacturers a smart and sustainable way to improve product performance, without structural changes to paper production.

Dineo Silverio, Managing Director of Gambini Brasil.

This installation fulfills Gambini’s promise to break the market rules. Today, Damapel becomes a pioneer of a technology with enormous potential and the Brazilian tissue sector officially sees a new trajectory of qualitative growth.

Gambini consolidates its position in the region and strengthens its commitment to bringing concrete, sustainable and valuable innovation to every market.
